Favorite Destination and Why: My favorite destination is India. Even though I left India almost 40 years ago, the connection is still very strong. The growth and modernization in India have been amazing and there are endless destinations to visit—the centuries-old temples in the south of India, the history surrounding the state of Rajasthan and Delhi, the spa at Ananda in the Himalayas, the Taj in Rishikesh and The Oberoi in Delhi to name a few. There is so much more to experience and the hospitality standards are higher than they have ever been. On my next visit, I would like to experience what is called a “Vilas Tour”—a journey through the most luxurious properties in the Oberoi Hotels portfolio—I am told that one would feel like royalty!

Areas of Specialty: building strong and nurturing relationships

My Travel Style Is: Luxe - a private car/driver wherever possible, an early start to pack in 4 to 6 hours of sightseeing—love to walk in big cities, some chilling in the afternoon, a nice (but not too late!) dinner. And, maybe, some new friends at the end of each day!

Fun Facts About Me:

I was the official New York Times photographer for my Rwanda trip to see the Gorillas and my pictures were published in a two-page spread

Just before I moved to the US 39 years ago, I was chief of staff to a provincial governor in the North East of India.  But, this part of India had an ongoing insurgency with guerilla warfare. So, I lived for three years surrounded by a barbed wire fence and para-military guards and never traveled out of the capital city without an armed guard beside my driver and a machine gun-mounted jeep with four soldiers providing rear cover!
